Pretty much sums it up for accessories. One thing I would have to add to the list is a very good air tight container for your beans! Nothing that will have nots of space left over when you put your beans in it but something that fits perfectly. The goal is to keep the coffee away from oxygen as much as possible. This is a great site for information about anything to do with coffee.

When buying your coffee, always ask when it was roasted. There are many common misconceptions when it comes to judging the freshness and absolute best time to experience roasted coffee at its peak (best tasting period). Coffee is at its absolute best when used a day or two after roasting, and if kept in an air tight container, the flavor should stick around seven to ten days. Old coffee beans may appear very oily, will have little or no aroma, or will take on a somewhat unpleasant aroma. Some coffee companies print the roast date on their bag! Very good for the consumer!

It took me some time before I was making coffee with my french press that made me happy. It took a lot of trial and error and bad cups of coffee before I really began to appreciate it!

First and foremost, you need fresh coffee beans! And I mean within one week of being roasted! (www.tarrivercoffee.com) You order, then they are roasted.

A burr grinder is preferred or there are some blade grinders that operate at slower speeds. This is key as you don’t want to ‘burn’ your beans.

Fresh filtered water is a must

And you also need the water to be the right temperature! For so long I couldn’t figure out why my coffee was so bitter, yet in a sharp, not stale way. I finally figured out my water was too hot! If your water is too hot, it will extract some of the more bitter essential oils too quickly, and your coffee is not very pleasant.

Check out the video for more details!
